Chassis

Now that we've gotten the sheet aluminum back from the anodizers, we can start installing stuff on the chassis.

Here we have installed the pedal box from the Mustang onto the steel mounting plate at the front of the footbox.

Behind the pedal box you can see the aluminum floor. These were the first sheet metal parts we installed. Nate did a careful job of gluing them in with silicone caulk and then riviting them neatly to the frame.

Here's another view of the pedal area. That's the steering shaft in the background.

Sheet aluminum panels will make up the inner panels off the body. We had many of these anodized gold, and the rest anodized black. You'll see these panels begin to appear on the chassis as time goes on.

Here Nate measures for placement of the aluminum blind rivits that will attach the outside panel of the passenger side footbox to the frame.

We spaced the rivits about 2" apart, with some adaptation needed to get even spacing in some places.

Here's the driver's side footbox with all but the top panels attached. Those will be attached later, after we've completed the wiring.

This footbox is a complicated structure, made up of no fewer than six aluminum panels. It's amazing that it all actually fits together!

You can see the completed passenger side footwell in the background to the left. Also note the brake master cylinder, which we've attached to the front of the pedal mounting plate.

This shot from the front shows the completed footwell boxes.
Here's a shot of the pedals from over the shoulder of an imaginary driver. You can see the steering shaft at the top and the front suspension in the background.
