I earned my private pilot's license in 1987. Learning to fly was one of the most challenging things I've done, but also one of the most rewarding. I highly recommend it!
I started taking aerobatics lessons in the summer of '87, shortly after going for a very memorable ride in a Curtiss P-40 at the Experimental Aircraft Association convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I found aerobatics to be thrilling, challenging, scary, and tremendously satisfying.
In the fall of '87, I
started looking for an airplane to build myself. In January 1988,
the first shipment of parts for my RANS S-10
kit arrived, and I began fulfilling the lifelong dream of building
my own airplane.
