The Ford Parts Arrive

We picked up the Mustang and Thunderbird parts from Mark Reynolds on June 3, 2000, using Nate's mighty Subaru and trailer.

(See the Vendors and Specifications pages for more information about the parts from the Mustang and Thunderbird and how they will be used.)

Here we've arrived at Mark's house in Milford, Massachusetts.

That's Amos in the Mohawk haircut on the left, me in the blue shirt, and Mark's wife and daughter on the right.

Mark, Amos and I contemplate the collection of parts as we prepare to hoist the engine into the the 4x8 trailer that Nate built recently for this project (and for hauling wood).

Note the piles of parts in the background, on the floor near the door of the garage. There are lots more. You can see the Mustang front lower control arms at the right.

No, I don't know who owns that SUV across the street.

Amos examines the Breeze parts packages and fluids that will eventually help make our Cobra run.

And here's the most of the whole collection of Mustang, Thunderbird, and Breeze parts, on Mark's driveway, ready to load in the trailer. That big thing at lower left is the Mustang fuel tank.

It takes a lot of parts to make a car, even a relatively simple one like a Cobra!

Here the massive 302 cu. in. Mustang V-8 is nestled in the trailer, surrounded by all the parts that wouldn't fit in the back of the Subraru.

Yes, that's an old tire the engine is sitting on. That's to protect its oil pan.

The loaded Subaru and trailer, ready to head for Vermont.

Note Amos to my left, just in front of the Rhododendron bush, helping me inspect the trailer contents to make sure everything is securely fastened down so it won't blow away somewhere in the wilds of New Hampshire on the trip home.

Here's the Mustang engine as it arrives in Vermont, dangling from Nate's shiny new, wonderful engine hoist. We'll be glad we got that hoist many times over during the project, I'm sure.

In the background of the photo at right, you can just see Nate's Subaru and his trailer.

At left, you can see the other side of the beautiful engine and transmission, and you can see the corners of Nate's trailer, with the tailgate latches which Amos helped design.

To the rear is Nate's excellent new workshop, which will grow steadily more well-equipped and well-organized in the coming weeks.

The engine sits quietly on its dolly in the corner of the garage next to that wonderful engine hoist, waiting for more exciting days ahead, while the mighty Subaru rests in its garage stall.

But not for long. Soon the Subaru will give up its space to a somewhat more exciting piece of hardware ...
