Two weeks after
we picked up the Ford parts, on June 19, we rented a cute little
4-cylinder Isuzu diesel truck from Ryder and roared (rather slowly)
down to Wareham to pick up the kit from Factory Five. |
|
At right, you can
see the family gathered around the Isuzu. From left to right,
it's me, Nellie, Amos, and Cale. Nate's taking the picture. You'll
see him in a minute.
Oh,
yes, you can just see the tail of the Cobra body to Cale's right. |
Here you can see
some of the boxes of parts that come with the FFR Cobra kit.
We wedged them in beside the frame and body assembly to help
keep it from moving around.
|
|
The sexiest pose
yet! (The car, silly, not me!)
|
|
Cale, the resident
Strong Teenager, looks at the stack of boxes with dismay.
|
|
Amos and Nate unload
boxes.
|
|
The pile of boxes.
All
this stuff is going to have to be attached to the car! |
|
The chassis and body,
temporarily bolted together for shipping, finally emerge from
the truck, courtesy of that terrific engine hoist again.
Note
the bits of sheet aluminum attached to the frame. These are attached
temporarily at the factory for shipping.
One
of our first steps in building will be to remove them so we can
attach the suspension, wiring, engine, and other parts. We'll
get them anodized and reattach them permanently later. |
|
Nate and Amos arrange
the sawhorses under the car.
They'll
hold it up till Nate builds some nifty little rollaround dollies
for the chassis and an even niftier rollaround body buck for
the body (to be seen in a future installment). |
|
Amos and I scramble
into the cockpit and make the important first vroom noises of
the project.
|
|
And
the parts have arrived! |
